TURN your DRESSES into 2 piece skirt sets!
This season 2-piece outfits are soooo in and oh soooo cute. Remember when you first bought your dress and that amazing, warm, refreshed, on-top of the world feeling you had that you were ready to tackle the world in style? That dress made you feel so beautiful inside and out. BUT a few years down the road it made you feel embarrassed or didn’t quite fit right in the right places anymore, and you wonder why in the world did I buy this?
Or simply you are just bored of your dresses!
Here are a couple of repurposing hacks you can try.
Either you sew yourself or maybe you have a trusted tailor or friend that can tailor
- Grab two dresses, try and make sure they have a different pattern! I’m not just talking about throwing over a t-shirt or a blouse and tying a knot, although this is also a very cute quick restyle, I mean we are going to separate the top from the bottom part of the dress and create a midi/short skirt and blouse set. But the key is the skirt ABSOLUTELY needs to be high-wasted.

2. Measure length of blouse you’d like from shoulder to bottom of blouse. This one I’d say keep it shorter so you can wear the bottom super-high waisted. I kept mine at about 15-16″ so just a small bit of my skin would show to keep it more sophisticated.
3. Cut across and surge the bottom. I left my bottom hem of my blouse without attaching piping or lace and actually did a peeko surge to make it a bit fancy and allow for the curve or flowy-ness of the fabric to remain.
4. Shorten the length of the skirt from the top so you will have that separation between blouse and skirt. Cutaway excess fabric. Attach an elastic to the waist, fold-down fabric over it which will make it shorter so you will have to count for that when considering the length. I chose elastic for the waist to give it an easy up and down feel and OFCOURSE comfy to wear on the hotter days.
The white 2-piece set has a high low skirt. The blouses’ borders as you can see are plain but have a flowy finish as opposed to tight around the ribcage.
5. Vwaaalaah! Finished Product, so uptown and chick 2 piece Skirt Sets
